We have summarized the properties of the most common varieties for you in our “Variety Information”, which we will be happy to provide to you upon request.

Since 2019, industrial hemp has been allowed to be grown as a catch crop. Hemp as a cover crop is THE alternative to improve soil structure and suppress weeds. Additional yield is also generated because hemp can be harvested as a catch crop.

The shredded straw remains in the field and provides erosion protection as it is not related to the following summer crop and therefore cannot transmit diseases.

According to the information sheet from the Federal Office for Agriculture and Food, the cultivation notification must be made by July 1, 2020. If industrial hemp is sown as a catch crop after July 1st of the growing year, the official labels must be submitted to the Federal Office by September 1st of the growing year.

We recommend the USO 31 variety as seed for cover crop cultivation – we can offer this to you for cover crop cultivation at particularly interesting conditions.
